Strange issue: the machine boots (no screen,no fan,no hdd activity,no cd activity) then after a couple of secs shuts down.

Tried to reheat with air gun the Maxim IC chips and bingo..boots normally wow..but when cooled down, same issue.

Any help?

Maybe MAX needs to be replaced or resolder MAX with regular soldering iron (use flux of course).

Yes, was a problem of cracked solder joints on the Max pads; a smart reflow has nt helped (after the chip cool down, maxy loses contact with pcb pads, micron cracks of course) so i used a soldering iron with fine iron tip,flux and gently retouched all solder points of the perimeter adding fresh lead; then fluxed again and reflowed with irda.The baby now run fine.

What is not clear to me is that the maxy issue is manufacturing problem during soldering process? or dc currents tends to "eat" tin joints on the pads (they looks as corroded/eroded sometimes)

Well , higher temperature and housing flexibility couses motherboard to deformate and then cracks on solder points. That often happend to north/south bridge and GPU.
