    Old Toshiba 2140 lap top

The LCD on this laptop faded away so tried conecting with an external monitor and it worked fine.
Ordered a new invertor and harness but no luck not even a flicker, I tested the lcd display on another machine and works fine!
On joining and reading about stuff on this site I am wondering if there could be a bad capacitor on the mother board, I will add a photo of the board in the next few days since its a handy machine for work on the car.
    Any advise will be appreciated.

I finally got this lap top opened and the first thing I noticed were the
2-Amp "fuses" F-1 & F-4 and when I tested them nether showed any signs of continuity.
I do not have an original power supply for this lap top instead I have been using with an adjustable AC/DC power pack that supposedly to be ok for lap tops? As I mentioned the PC works fine but without a monitor.

Since you are sure the screen is now good, replace the fuses and see what gives.

Wow I can see you've really put your grey matter to work here, how about knowing what them fuses correspond to and why they might blowen in the first place??

That connector above those fuses - what does it connect to? LCD screen? Other device? Either way, just follow the cable that connects to this connector, and see what components are connected to the fuses. Let us know what you find.

Sure, if the board was in front of me i would have done exactly that. Since the board is in front of you i think you have to do it instead.

Most likely the fuses blew because of a fault within the inverter. You have changed the inverter so now they shouldn't blow again. Or would you have preferred some transistors to blow up instead of the fuses like in "modern designs" ?
