a neighbour handed my one of their old laptps, a Toshiba Satellite M70 (SR6) saying that the screen had gone blank ... I have repaired several of my own laptops, so said I would take a look for them.
an external monitor worked just fine, and the screen was completely black (no shadow image) so I 'presumed' that the problem was likely the LCD, or the inverter, or both. ordered a new screen and replaced it, no go; so I ordered a new inverter and replaced that too, still no go.
All the work was done with the battery removed, and the connections have been double checked, etc ...
having spend $150 on a rather old piece of kit, I am reluctant to do much more, but thought I would post to this group, before giving up and putting the screen and inverter on eBay to recoup some costs ...
