Dell Alienware M15 R4 2 Red 7 Blue Display Failure

    Laptop model: Dell Alienware M15 R4 S/T: 346w5j3
    Motherboard model: LA-K741P REV 1.0

    Problem description:
Turns on with error code on the LED light: 2 Red. 7 Blue. Indicating Display Failure.

Following attempts are made at repairing:
    1. Replace LVDS cable
    2. Replace LVDS connector on motherboard, 3 times.
    3. Replace LCD screen with same 300Hz version + 240Hz version
    4. Power on with battery alone or DC jack
    5. Checked Voltages on the LVDS connector with and without screen connected, it was pretty much the same.
    6. BIOS updated completed

    Observations:
If HDMI is plugged for external display, laptop boots fine without an error code.
Holding D while booting shows LCD colours and LCD testing.
I have throughly checked for burns or damaged components, it looks good.

You can watch extensive boring videos of the issues so far here:

Attached are the LVDS connector readings + snippets from the schematics files which may assit you.

    Thank you in advance.

Attached is the boardview for those interested.

MOD Edit: Boardview moved to thread in "Schematic requests ONLY!" sub forum -> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1264783

    Here are some interesting finds.
    When I connected 3.3VAW to Pin 1 of the FV8 - the 2nd pin of FV8 became 2.4V. Then I connected a wire from 3.3VAW source to Pin 1 and Pin 2 of FV8 - I had 3.3V altogether. The FV8 is good - no issues.
    LCD Display error still showed.

ENVDD comes from UG65 as pictured. UG66 Pin 5 has it;s +3VS signal. But No V on Pin 1 and Pin 2 which are NDDS_ENVDD and DDS_ENVDD.

          Alienware 17 R4 2 red 1 blue CPU Failure
          by kamkam336
Hello, I have a Alienware 17 r4 with a 7820hk / 1070 gpu. I get 2 red 1 blue error flash which indicates cpu failure. I purchased this computer broken / as is so not sure what the history is. The board and case both look to be in great shape, wondering if it was a failed bios update.

I have a ch341 programmer and have tried flashing the uh4 chip with a known good bios, the first time I did this and tried booting the system it gave a no memory error which made since because I had no ram installed so I thought I had it. But after I installed the ram it did a series of boots and reboots...

          Acer Alienware Nitro 5 (GH51G LA-L181P Rev: 1C) & Dell Alienware M15 (GDP50 LA-k452P Rev:1) - Both Shorted PCH (SRKMA)!
          by reessi
          Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

          I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell 9310 Memory or RAM (Random-Access Memory) failure (2,4)
          by puccovelli
Hi all, I hope this is the right place to post.

I'm having a problem with a Dell 9310 which is posting 2 orange, 4 white lights on startup (hangs on Dell BIOS logo). The service manual says its a RAM failure.

I've taken the motherboard out and noticed that one of what looks like an SMA 0805 resistor has blown (see photo). The board is an LA-J144P Rev 2.0(A01).

1] Could someone confirm what the component that has blow actually is (and where I could get another from).
2] Whether this component is likely to cause the RAM failure issue, and if replacing...
