HP Stream 11-ak0023ng - Burnt Component

    Hi there!

I just bought a faulty HP Stream 11-ak0023ng laptop for cheap from eBay and when taking it apart I immediately spotted a burnt component on the motherboard, near one of the USB-A ports.

I just need some reassurance in figuring out what exactly this component is and what it does.

The chip marking reads "AZEDJA" and from searching the forum (IC marking codes thread) I guess it is a Silergy SY6288D5CAC. Am I correct with this assumption?

    1) Nice and clear picture !!

    2) Component caught fire?? OMG...this is a very common load switch used for the Vbus rails. My suggestion is to NOT use this same vendor for the load switch - since it caught fire and it should have shut off under such stress. Consider to purchase a drop in replacement from Microchip / Diodes Inc., etc.

Just be sure of the enable pin polarity - ie. active high or low to match your original load switch.

On this one the enable pin is active low. I´ll look around for something compatible. Can´t find the original part for sale anyway.

Any ideas for drop-in replacements? I didn´t find a lot of options. AP2501 from Diodes Inc. looks promising (EN=active low; MSOP-8 package) but I can´t find any seller. There surely has to be an alternative part that´s also widely available?

          Try this one:

          https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...i4A3fiOg%3D%3D

BTW - It is from TI and the specs should be true to the datasheet. They also offer this part as a free sample so create an account on TI.COM and request a free sample.

Thanks for leading me into the right direction. If I could, I would choose the TPS2068, which is a little closer to the original part spec. Unfortunately, both TPS2061 and TPS2068 are unobtainium in Europe as well. Mouser has the parts but it´d cost me 20€ just for shipping and it´ll take long. Ordering from USA or China is not an option in this instance.
