Hi,

Not charging / The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined

Tried a different charger, but the problem didn't go away.

Where do I start?

Check the PS_ID section of the circuit. This is a single wire communication line from the EC device and the center pin of the adapter. Often the mosfet on this line gets killed and the logic board is unable to gauge the power of the adapter. Link or post the schematic but only in the schematic section for more details.

If the schematic is not available, post the silk screen markings of the logic board. It is also possible to trace the faulty part with a multimeter in diode mode. Remove all power. Meter in diode mode. Touch the meter probes and you will hear a tone beep. One meter probe to the center pin of the DCin power adapter connector on the logic board.

Other meter probe to the closest sot-23 (3 pin) small mosfet. When you hear a tone beep, stop. This mosfet often gets killed from voltage transients. Post a pic of the part and section on your board. After a review, you can remove to bypass this part for testing. Best to replace for the full fix.
