Asus TUF FX504 not powering on

    Hi,
Looking for help with DABKLGB8D0 REV.D board, laptop was in standby mode with closed lid when all fans start spinning for max speed, when I open the lid screen was black closed it again nothing happens fan still max speed, power supply disconnected and all fans stops. After that no live in laptop no led's or any reaction for power button / charger battery etc. I did some checks looks like 19v is exist, check for short to ground: located on rail +VCC CORE all shorts to ground as per photo, also next to it rail +VCCSA is all highlited short to ground on both sides of the board. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is not short to gnd if you hear a beep, only few ohms is ok for newer cpu. Check in resistence mode (not diode) and post exact resiatence in ohms.

why does everbody thinks that 3,6 ohms is a short that is no short and it is normal to get low resistance like that and less on vcc core and gpu core on newer laptops.

          OK, thanks SteveDB,
I did more measurements today, readings below:
          PL25/26 +VCCGFX - reading 0V
          PL8 1.05V - reading 0V
          PL7 +1.2v - reading 0V
          PL2/3/4 +VCCORE - reading 0V
          PL22 +V3 reading 0V
          PL21 +V5 - reading 0V

at the time when testing PL21 and PL22 spotted excessive heat from PC334 marked in red circle, reading is 19.46V also PC332 and PC333 - 19.46V

Any ideas what to check next ?

Re: Asus TUF FX504 not powering on

You need to follow basics first in case of a dead unit.
01.Resistance to GND check on CLR to understand whether main +19V rail is shorted or not.
02.Check DC-IN fets shorted or not. Measure voltage on pin 1-4-8 of these mosfets. If the voltage is 19V on pin1-8 and 24V on pin4, then they are fine.
03.Next check resistance to GND on all coils.Check whether any voltage is present on those coils.
04.Check whether PCH is shorted or not and 1.05V is present on its coil or not.
05.Check resistance to GND on +3V LDO/+5V LDO.
These are just few steps i've listed and it applies for all mb repair.Remember, 90% of the case can be solved by following simple basics. So just concentrate on basics and do your homework well and then come back with all the info we seek and detailed steps you have taken so far to fix it.

It does makes sense only then to suggest something.
