What is the brand of the laptop?

If it is a Dell, check the ps_id circuit.

Re: FPW50-LA-H321P(R) REV 1A no power

What is the current draw of your power supply?

To announce the power (watts) of the external power adapter, HP need a predefined analog voltage on the center pin of the DCin connector.

This voltage is different than the main 19v used to power the logic board. There are charts of this voltage available on the internet. Each different voltage range = different power of the adapter.

With your dc power supply, this voltage is likely missing.

This adapter ID voltage is sampled by an analog to digital converter on the EC (stand alone 8051 microcontroller) and then the EC decides if the power adapter is capable of powering the logic board. If the expected adapter voltage is missing, the logic board will remain off.

Dell does something similar but will use a single wire identification device that must send to the EC a host of data bytes to inform the EC that a power adapter of xx watts is attached.

Summary - use only an approved and known good HP power adapter for further testing.

            Also test without the LCD.

Today i was working on a HP Quanta G7AL r2G motherboard. This mb doesnt work with dc supply(PS_ID used). With original 65W HP Adapter, it works. So do always check newer models HP with original HP Adapter before being sure its a dead unit.

Hi update regarding about the unit , ive found that the +3VALW is shorted it has 1.3 ohms, and also the PLM1 has low restance also 300ohms.

I tried to rremove the PJ302 jumper to determine which part is shorted, after that the +3VALW was shorted and I tried to pump voltage around 0.9v if something gets hot so after that the PCH gets warm,.

Those PCH is dead due to the accident of LCD change?

set to 1v 3amps then inject on PJ302 pad 2.. then check if pch or components thats getting hot..

This is gets warm, not hot.

Check the resistance to ground of the nearby coils. They power this component. No power in resistance checks.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              Assuming...

                              Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
