    lenovo L590 not detecting SSD

I've got the mentioned laptop to repair, and i get error 2100 hdd not detected, i ordered a new cable and board for M.2 disk, and it doesn't work, i got the board view and checked all the lines, and all appears to be good. SSD_DET_EC# is working, because when there is no ssd it gives no error, just boots from PXE, when disc is connected i get error 2100, so that pin is working, 3.3V is present, data lines go to the two PI3EQX12902AZL chips...any advice what to check next? is there any lock on the bios maybe that is preventing detection of new ssd?

ssd is a compatible model, i 've checked that already, and it works in another laptop.

i know that the ports can be the culprit…

Check the joints on the connectors for the drive at each end.

the cables are new from aliexpress,i bought two, just in case...and a new caddy with m.2 interface, but doesn't work...i tried flashing bios found on this site, but get only black screen, so i flashed back the original...

there is an updated bios version in .iso on the lenovo site , but i can't unpack it or mount it, it's made for bootable cd, and it doesn't work for bootable usb..and i don't have a cd burner anymore

but i think the bios won't do much...

i could try and replace the two chips where data lines go if i find them, but i think there is something else wrong..

Use RUFUS and a standard USB thumbdrive - try to avoid KINGSTON brand as they used some cheap USB interface for the flash and has faults in booting on some motherboards.

            LEXAR is great to use.

We have 100++ USB thumbdrives built by Rufus to program the firmware on the products we build

Re: lenovo L590 not detecting SSD

So you have extracted the ISO image -> selected this ISO image and applied onto the USB drive.

Then you are booting from the USB media and it does not boot ?

Be sure you have your BIOS configured to boot from USB / removable media.

Also try a warm boot = ctrl + alt + del to reboot.

i managed to use multiboot from universal usb installer and installed it on the usb...now i can boot from usb and see the iso...but it won't flash the bios without the battery, and the battery is at the customer...i have to get it from him...

Re: lenovo L590 not detecting SSD

I had a T570 with this fault, it was broken solder joints on the SSD connector on the motherboard. Lenovo even bought out a modified base cover to apply pressure to the connector. They looked ok, but you could see they moved when nudged with tweezers.
