    Nintendo Switch - Joy Cons won't charge, fan not spinning

    So, I've got the Nintendo Switch on the bench.
    Issue:
    * Won't charge up the joy-cons
    * Fan is not spinning.
    * Battery discharges very quickly
    * Serial number from joy-cons unavailable

    I have located the shorted diode near the cpu fan connector. Apparently that is pretty common issue. Once the diode has been removed the short is gone.

    Apparently it is going to work fine right know without the diode.
    But... I understand that this diode someone of course put there for a reason. Problem is I don't have a donor board.

    Do you know maybe what are the diode values?
    Anyone had that problem before?

    You could use a 1N007 diode ( or equivalent in a surface mount device) in place of the one that is shorted just make sure you have the polarity is correct when you install it or you will have what appears to be a short but it because it installed backwards

    I have seen this type of diode which has the markings ( 7 ) I have found some of them shorted before and I just put a 1N007 in it place

      Thanks a lot!

      I will make sure that polarity is correct.

        Hello.
        Sorry to resurrect this old thread.
        But what if the Nintendo Switch has the same issues (fan not spinning when device reaches 65C and joycons not charging) but it's already a new revision, without the diode on the board?
        What could be causing the issue?
