    Optiplex 7080 Locked BIOS

    Hello my friends!

    I have a locked Optiplex 7080 BIOS that I would like to unlock.

    The problem is, I cannot find the BIOS/CMOS chip on my motherboard. I'm having a hard time finding it probably because of my age.

    Can someone help me out by explaining where is the BIOS/CMOS chip located in my Optiplex 7080?

    I tried to find it just by looking in the board but I couldn't find it.

    The computer is a Dell Optiplex 7080 and I believe the motherboard model is E93839.

    Danke!

    You have :

    64 ---> 8MB
    128 ---> 16MB
    256 ---> 32MB
    512 ---> 64MB

    For example : 25Q128BV... gives you 16 MB bios

      Hey! Thanks for your reply. This is the only thing that looks like a BIOS chip to me.

      But the problem is, it has 16 pins and not 8... What tool should I use/purchase to extract the chip data?

      Can you guide me a little?

      Danke!

        Use 16pin clamp.

            I cannot use this because the chip is welded to the mother board. Is there a clamp kit that I could use?

            I apologize, I'm still a rookie, I'm trying to understand how these things works.

            Danke!

              Will I need a 1.8v adapter to extract data from this chip? Does anyone know?

              Danke!

                  As far as I know, your chip has a voltage of 3v-> 3.6v

                    Great! So tomorrow I'll find a 3.3v CH341A EPROM to start testing!

                    If I upload my locked BIOS dump here, will you help me by changing it to be unlocked so I can flash it to the chip?

                    Danke!

                      Be careful, CH341A (black board) has a default voltage of 5v, you must mod it down to 3.3v.

                          Does anyone know what do I need to do to set this CH341A to work under 3.3V?

                          I think it has to do with the jumpers, but I can't figure it out anywhere.

                          Danke in advance!

                          Can someone unlock this dump for me? I think I got the file correctly from the chip.

                              After flashing the chip, when I power on the machine the LED blinks orange 3 times, then white 4 times.

                              Are you sure the changes you made to the file are correct? Because I only see two small differences between the original and the file you sent me.

                                  Dell Optiplex 7080 SFF bios locked question.

                                  This is my first time trying to read a BIOS from the chip and just don't want to start with the wrong foot.
                                  Please confirm this is the chip I need to remove. I was expecting something smaller with 8 pins and not 16.
                                  Thanks in advance for any response.
