Re: msi tomahawk mag z390
Here you are. You only have to trace back the device in the schematics. Or maybe you find the device in the Richtek device marking file (if it's a Richtek).
Had a short look on the schematics, maybe it's U20, i.e. an RT9742AGJ5F with marking 07= not Q7=. But check this in detail between board and schematics to be 100% sure.
Found an Boardview too.
It is U20:

Re: msi tomahawk mag z390
Edited my post above, so there you can find the device, and it is definitely U20. Otherwise if you would not have the boardview, just take a simple measuring device or even a lens, and see where the device is connected, as it is near the USB connector, it's likely it's connected there or with some other device controlling the USB Ports. Then find 2-3 such connections, and compare it with the schematics, look for USB connector, read the schematics, compare the pin numbers the signals are connected to. If you find 2-3 such connections corresponding to the schematics then you found your device. You can compare also the number of pins it has. And be optimistic, take time to try to understand the schematics, and believe you can do it !Last edited by DynaxSC; 10-11-2022, 06:41 AM.Comment

by foshlandHi to all, my motherboard (bought second hand as faulty, but now working after cleaning the ram slots) have a strange failure that shows 0 Celsius degrees in BIOS, because of that, the CPU goes to protection mode and gets stuck at 800Mhz.
Since its a 8-9 Intel generation, I know the CPU temp is the hottest temp of the cores (as i have read in intels documentation) so its not a diode or sensor on the board.
External temperature (motherboard temp) is working OK, 27ºC more or less
In windows, all the software I have tested shows correct the Core temps

by VanillaboardMSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus - 15.2V on GPU ATX Connector, Now Board Won't Start
Hello everyone,
I was experimenting with my MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus motherboard and accidentally applied 12.5V to the GPU ATX connector. The motherboard immediately powered off, and now it won't start anymore.
The graphics card seems to be fine, so no issues there.
I've measured the voltage at JFP1, and I'm getting 3.95V, as well as on the PS_OUT# pin of the SuperIO. As far as I know, these should be at 5V in standby, right?
Now my question is: where exactly do these... - Loading...
