The CB60BX that I had with a few popped Teapos has been recapped. I also have a CB60BX that had all Teapos, GSC, and Luxons that I recapped as well, even though that board was still running fine. Both boards run now without errors, but I've noticed that their northbridges run very warm. I also noticed on today's board that other chips are warmer than I'd noticed before. In particular, some TI GD75232 RS-232 chips are quite warm to the touch and the MOSFETs are also fairly warm. Note that I've got nothing attached to the serial ports and no software accessing them. Nothing is so warm that I can't keep my fingers there, but a later revision of the board does not run anywhere near as warm, but it also hasn't been recapped. Unfortunately I didn't run the boards before recapping, so I don't know if this is normal. The northbridges are certainly warmer than other BX northbridges on both recapped and original boards from FIC, for instance. I also noted that the video chip on the Rage II AGP board runs hotter in the recapped CB60BX boards than in later revisions of the hardware!
Nothing seems too hot, but it is curious to me that there is a temperature difference at all. I like my hardware to run as cool as possible, of course! I doubt that there's a serious problem because the recapped CB60BX ran fine for several hours today.
Any thoughts?
