Cap orientation on A7N8X Deluxe V2

    Hi all,

I have a few questions I hope someone out there with a A7N8X Deluxe v2 board can help me out. I recently had the capacitors replaced (the old ones were burn out), however I think they have been replaced with the wrong polarity.

The board has a circle with half of it painted white, on each place of the capacitors, for what I have been told the white area represents the NEGATIVE point. Each capacitor has a stripe on it, and also for what I have been told it represents the NEGATIVE pin. With that in mind all appears correct on my board, the new capacitors have all their stripes pointed into the white area. And in that lies the problem, I have check some photos of the A7N8X on the web and the capacitors that they show there all have their stripes pointing in the other way.

some pictures i got from the web (their strips are on the other side of mine)

(on this last picture one can see the beginning of the strip on top of the caps, and the white on the bottom of the 2 caps near the cpu)

I an hoping if some can tell me if I got the whole white side or the strip side wrong?
Also if someone with an A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2.00 can have a look on how they capacitors are oriented?

    Thank you,
    Aragao

If you look close, you can usually see a "+" marking near the white area on boards that do it that way.

As the learned folks above have stated

        Leave well alone

Interestingly enough, I recapped an A7N8X-Deluxe v2.0 just recently.
Of course, I thought the polarity was the wrong way round
        and installed caps accordingly.

Applied power to the recapped board and pfft! pfft! - mucho rush
to kill the power. All the VRM caps and the memory block had
        vented!

Suprisingly enough, when I recapped the recap (polarity corrected),
the mobo came back to life without a problem. Guess, I was lucky.

Another story was a recap of MSI 6570 v1 where I had inadvertently
put a cap (near the AGP slot) in the wrong way. Whereas the cap
as above vented with PSU on, post recap the recap the mobo is
dead. Further investigation found a number of diodes shorted

So... with that board, I will have to make the repair and hope
        it is still functional.

Heed the warning - we all live and learn!

          Thanks all for the info.
The mobo is back to the shop to have those caps removed and put back on the right polarity now a few more weeks to wait till I have it back

Strange thing was that the mobo HAS been put under power for some minutes (when I got it originally back from the shop with the new caps), but none of them vent or blow up...

Again, thanks all for the help.
