Not exactly a new board but does it's job.Recently out of the blue the screens would scramble on both monitors and be stuck like that, so i would unplug the power supply for a while and take out the bios battery and let it sit for a while. Sometimes that worked and it would boot up and stay up for a month or two at a time then the same thing would happen. Note i did change the video card, and a new powersupply was put in after the Antec died...it was making noise but still worked for a while until it's fan siezed up so it was changed for another PSU.
I did notice a couple of bulged leaking caps on the mobo so i figure might as well take them all out and replace them. What i can't find on the web anywhere even on the asus site is a list of all the caps and specs on each. Since the mobo works sometimes i don't want to replace just the two i see are bad and can't read the sides of all the other ones crammed in unless they are all out first.
There are some kits on this site but none for this model but other newer asus boards. I'd rather order from this site a kit than from someone on ebay that has caps called Suncon which i looked up and they are chinese.
In the meantime a better heatsink cpu fan is on it's way instead of the cheap stock one that came with it. The prescott chip does run a little hot though 70 C sometimes but read up on that and it's supposed to be able to run that hot but i'd rather it not.
Yes i used arctic silver but it might not be seated properly the heat sink was taken out a few times and the four pins that you tighten a half turn into the mobo had to be straightend out last time to fit in the four holes.
So my best guess it's the two bulging caps that are the culprits and others and would like to change them all if taking it all apart anyway.
Wish i could read them all and just order rubycon but in place it's impossible even with lights and a magnifying glass.... in the meantime i'll see if it boots again and stays on for a while like before.
Oh when the video is scrambled on both screens and a reboot is tried the bios screen is scrambled too, then sometimes i hit the power up button and it starts and just stops after a few seconds, note this is a brand new powersupply 500watts more than enough and the same symtoms happened with the old PSU which was faulty for sure.
