is it worth to replace the Caps on (3) Video Cards

    1. 1st Video Card ever to "go bad" on me and it was on a very hot day and now have additional fan as well as another fan constantly next to my Sony Vaio RZ-22G

    2. well this came in my newly purchased Sony Vaio RZ-44G and it has a blue and white connector for monitors but only will run one display and i need a Card that can do Dual...it worked but don't know why "possibly static" but from what i read, its a rarely happens but won't turn on anymore

    3. Bought from guy but haven't got to fully test it, i got as far as a bunch of lines in color like when a TV is showing the rainbow colors, i have been reading up on adjusting my Bio but since this could lock my motherboard, i don't want to tinker with it beyond moving my HD first...since everything points to not being able to run it on my RZ-44G, should i just return it? have got the fan to turn on from an aftermarket power supply

since AGP 4x-8x Video Cards go for $20ish dollars from 256MB cards, would it be expensive to replace or can i check with a Multi-Meter on possibly problems myself?

any advice is appreciated and will gladly retake any pics for better ones

Worth it or not is something you need to decide.

Top center obviously needs -at least- caps.
Other two don't look like it.
Try reapplying thermal paste under the heat-sinks on all of them and see if they improve.

i'll give that a try...found out what thermal paste is and its pretty awesome stuff

my question is would it be cost worthy?

i'm sentimental and kinda old school minded like stick with what works...most Sony electronics i have are compatible and lasted for a long time

would it be cost worthy like i'd imagine 10-15 bucks with shipping for new Caps from digi-key or am i totally off on my guesstimate

The top card definitely needs caps. I count 7.

The red card looks like it has Panasonic and Rubycon caps. They are unlikely bad.

If you are in the USA, I'm guessing 7 caps + USPS first class shipping (around $2.75) is less than $10 USD.

oh ok...so can someone help me with a part number for the top one

also, if not the caps, what could be causing the other two not to work in my system?

List the uF, voltage, diameter and height of each cap. Also list the brand and series. A picture of the caps (close up) might help as well.

After relooking at the red card, it looks like they are not Rubycon caps. The green ones may be nkon or something like that.

                The green are Sanyo/Suncon.
                I see some Panasonic.
                There's two I can't tell.
