    Asus VL279 (VL279HE) - possible short?

I have an Asus VL279HE, PCB model is 4H.42101.A21

The symptom is that there's no power at all with it with the AC adapter hooked up. The fuse tests ok, but when the AC power adapter is connected, I do not get a voltage reading with my DMM from the pins on the back. The connector itself tests ok, which leads me to conclude that there's some short on the board which is triggering protection in the AC adapter and causing the voltage to go to 0.

I am not certain where to start looking beyond the fuse though.

    Thanks

Rather, the problem is in the power supply itself (electrolytic capacitors) does not hold the load and the power drops from it.

No, that can't be it, I tried 3 different known good adapters. I'll try replacing the NIKOS PA410BD TO252 MOSFET.

Not really useful but just in case it helps

Could be a bad DC jack too. Measure for a short at that DC jack, or from the fuse to ground.

Samsung UE46ES8000 Blown fuse but no other signs of short
            by jesterace
Hi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...

Argon SA1 audio amplifier power-supply - fuse blown after fixing the short?
            by Babbar
I found a project in the electronics trash yesterday. A nice Argon SA1 audio amp with some electrical issue. Took it apart and saw that the 4A250V fuse was blown so started lifting components to find the short. Eventually got to two MOSFETs (model FTA14N50C) that are shorted and when i took them out the short was gone.

Now i didn't have any replacements of the same model of course but i found a couple with pretty similar spec i thought (K10A60D & K12A50D) and put them in. Also replaced the blown fuse with a 3.5A250V one. Checked another time for short circuit and plugged it in....

ASUS FX505DV no power shorted at PWM controller Pin 3 VREG3 TPS51225C, need pinpointing of the short.

(If anyone has a functional boardview file of FX505DV/DU that would be helpful)
(Had 3 problems, now just 1)

I have no experience or knowledge and usage of tools to repair devices besides the entire past 12-10 days of researching, watching YouTube repair videos and troubleshooting this laptop motherboard. ChatGPT was used as a guide to ask questions.
I used boardviews of mostly FX505GD-M, and some FX505DU, FX505DD. Used schematics of FX505DU.

I had originally intended to replace the BQ24780s first (due to previous battery removal while benchmarking) but I...

Asus ZenBook 13 UX333F External Short - Fast Battery Drain - Need Help
            by jkucukov
I'm trying to see if someone could help me with my Asus Zenbook 13 UX 333F with given symptoms that I've experience during a recent external short.

During last laptop charge, as I was moving the DC power supply, I caused the two leads (+ -) to touch. After that event the laptop stopped charging and pulling amps form the power supply. The only way the laptop will come on is with the power supply connected and the battery having some charge to it, battery drains immediately after short operation (it gets to Windows log in screen before it shuts off). The laptop would power on, show...
