    Samsung 740N New lamps

After a month of "operative" by the monitor, I came to the conclusion that a pair of lamps all the time created a problem. That's what I concluded as I literally take apart the display and took out both of two pairs of lamps. If this pair of lamps (see picture) disconnect, the second pair of lamps are lit normally, but after two seconds, turn off, regardless of them turned up or down.

    I am interested in:
    1. Is that normal to the lamp is automatically excluded for protection if it is plugged in only one pair or one of them is not working properly?

    2. If I find the lamps on eBay, whether they come in pairs?

    3. How much cost lamps for Samsung SyncMaster 740N and where can i buy them?

There is no logic to me to throw in the trash montior if everything else is correct

    Samsung => CRAP

    Thanks for answers. Cheers.

    Welcome new member!

You can see that the pink lead lamp is broken/cracked near the blackened end.

The inverter will detect missing/open lamp and shuts off all the lamps > 2 sec to black

I doubt you can find lamps from eBay originally designed for 17" monitor. You can try. Alternative would be to look for another 740N from Craigslist or alike. There is no guarantee that lamp from another model or brand will fit (I know).

You cannot buy lamps from Samsung. No manufacturer sells lamp for their panels. You have to get working pulls.

    Good luck.

      Thanks for answer.

I see that lamp is broken, that is the reason why i take a picture...

I talk with main service of samsung in my state. They say that there are few display panel models (Hannastar,Chunghwa,Samsung,Innolux,AUO,CMO...) and each apparently has a different lamps. After that, i send informations of my panel and recived the answer that they don't have lamps for my model. (CHUNGHWA CLAA170ES - 01). They also say that normal for this model is changing the whole display if the lamp burns out. I know, they lie because they certainly wish that I buy new from them, but it is almost the same price as if buying a new monitor. And so, I'm not crazy to do that.
Peasant State. -.-' horror. I'm frustrated.

I found some lamps on ebay but i don't know are they good for my panel.
      Here is link.

If anyone has more info where can I order just one pair of lamps, or if you find it on eBay I would be very grateful to him.

      Thanks.

That seller is in the United States. They appear to be selling bare lamps; you will have to attach the wires. If you go to their store they have many CCFLs available, as well as complete assemblies. I suggest contacting them directly to make sure you get what you need.

Yes, it appears they do have LCD monitor lamps.

Email them with your model & revision number of the panel. Hopefully, they kept a database of such and can advise you if they have the exact replacment.

Also tell them if your lamps are for the top or the bottom. I came across some that there is a metal lip on the back side of the lamp assembly so you cannot interchange the top with the bottom set (or vice versa).

            Re: Samsung 740N New lamps

After browsing their eBay store, it appears these people are simply selling the lamps. You need to solder on the connector.

I looked at several of the Viewsonic LCD lamps. They used terms like 4 lamps, 6 lamps, etc.. Now I know these models they quoted, have 4 lamps in 2 assemblies or 6 lamps in 2 assemblies (3 lamps per). This leads me to believe you are only buying the lamps. Also, they provide drawing on how to measure the lamp.

So, Hallucin, are you up to the soldering skill needed?

Well, I have already worked soldering, but I think it's easier if I could buy right away in one piece (with metal lip), just put them and turn on I'm afraid to break them, when I change them, as I see it is very thin and prone to cracking. Now I do not know, to order all 4 lamps or to order just that one that is broken, because I see that the only one cause problem. Btw. i checked, both metal lips for lamps are the same, so I guess it does not matter.

Perhaps better to order all 4 tubes or two lips with lamps, that would not let blown other one again for two weeks -.-'. then I really threw the monitor out the window.

anyway, i will try to contact their via ebay.

              Thanks again.
