Blue cap near transformer........what is it?

I am enclosing a pic of several blue caps.

But i am not sure what they are. I think they may be bad but i am not sure.

Can someone tell me what these are or find a datasheet. I have looked but cant find one.

Looks like 8pF, 6 KV ceramic caps. If they are not shorted it is very unlikely they are bad. When they fail the usual result is a charred mess - or ashes.

should i be able to measure the capacitance of this using my multimeter? For some reason i can not. Also, if i were to measure the resistance of this capactitor what should it be?

resistance shouldnt read - on a multimeter they will not register.
capacitance is printed on them.
dont meter them on the board.

as PlainBill said, when these things die - very rare btw - they destroy themselves.
either they split in half filled with soot, or they go bang and leave a hole in the middle!

Just checking.........if i measure them on the board.........its not bad right? I just wont get the correct reading? Should i be able to measure them if they are not soldered on the board.?

Agree with the above....doubt very much they are a problem if you can still see them!

As to checking theri actual capacitance, they would have to come out but lay your DMM probes on them and they should read greater than multiple meg ohms. Basically off scale. Now, if they measure any resistance, check the others and see. Again, doubt they are an issue.

This capacitor is 8 pF. Most DMMs won't measure a capacitance that low.
