The point is to make sure the caps you buy will fit in the space provided. If there is 1/4" of space around a cap, you can ignore the diameter. Likewise if the cap is quite short don't worry about height. Sooner or later you will discover you bought the wrong cap and will learn the same way I did.

      Re: Twin Samsung 931b monitors

This is my first time posting on these forums.

Am I glad to find this website! Bad caps failing early certainly answers a lot of questions regarding product longevity.

I have a SyncMaster 921b and have a problem with a blinking screen.

I opened it up and found three bulging caps in the power supply. I am going to change each of the eight electrolytics on the board.

I created a diagram, noted all the info from each of the caps including their measurements. I've read the forum relating to the same monitor and from them I was able to get a parts designation for each cap.

There is one, however, that I am unable to find in the forums, it's a Capxon 47uF 50v KM105°c C634 (approx 11mm x 7mm dia.).

I went to DigiKey & tried to whittle it down, but I'm not sure if it is the correct one.

      DigiKey part number: P10321-ND

      Manufacturer's part number: EEU-FC1H470, Panasonic – ECG

      11.2mm X 6.3mm diameter

      Spec Sheet @: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...name=P10321-ND

Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

      Thanks.

Yes, the Panasonic FC series 47uf 50V cap will work fine.

In my Samsung monitor the 14.5 rail jumps to 18 odd volts when the inverters turn off.
I would assume the 12 volt rail would do the same in this monitor.
So doing that could be nasty.

I got the wrong size caps for my monitor I got 25mm high when it could only
20mm. got 20mm and all good.
