    Re: Acer AL1914 Dead

Sorry to take so long getting back (been very busy) - I got the pair of IC109 SG6841SZ's back (thanks Bobdee) replaced them and the outcome was two working monitors - So big thanks to Bobdee for sourcing the part Plainbill for the time and using the grey matter (for suppling the brains) and Kc8adu for naming the faulty part. If this helps anybody else with the same problem plese drop a thank you for the time and effort these 3 put into this thread

I have the same problem: Display is dead. The large capacitor has 310 V (Germany - 220 V). From the - lead of the large capacitor to R907 there are 100V. So there must be something wrong. Is there anyone with a hint for me?

Similar symptoms often have different causes. 100 volts could very well be correct. Does the other end of R907 have 310 volts on it?

Measure the output voltages from the power supply. There are failures on the 'logic card' that can give the appearance of 'no power'.

On the one side of R907 there are around 100 V and on the other side around 4.4 V.

OK, on the SG6841SZ (the SMPS controller), what is the voltage from pin 1 (Gnd) to pin 3 (Vin). If it is also 4.4 volts, the SG6841SZ is defective.

Pin 1 to pin 3: 4.4 V. So I will replace the SG6841SZ, thank you very much!

Just to say that this also worked for me, thanks to this forum for pointing me the right way . C914 and C915 are indicated in the following pic:

Hardest part was opening the case without damaging it. Undo the 4 screws on the back, pop off the bulge where the stand connects to the lcd and undo the 4 screws there. Then get something nice and thin to push in to the seam running around the edge of the lcd and the front pops off. There are 4 screws holding in the long narrow pcb with the front buttons and led on it. then it just comes straight out of the back plastic. There are 2 small screws holding on the metal cage around the electronics....

I am seriously thinking about taking off the plastics altogether, the monitor looks pretty good without any plastic except for the base

                    Told ja!!! Congratulations!

Not a good morning, 1 successful repair, 1 f***ed up repair and one that doesn't look promising.

                      by bripoll
Hello, I have an Acer veriton n4670GT that, due to a fall to the ground, only started if I did a BIOS reset.
The power button ar ok, and when power off windows, then if press power button, this power on, but goes to boot loop, like press power button forever

It crossed my mind to try a BIOS update and when I finished it turned off and no longer starts in any way.
I have a flash programmer, but the file you download from the Acer website has a .CAP extension, it is not a .BIN

I have programmed it, but it still won't start, it is dead
                      Before programming...
