Samsung SyncMaster TA350 - Found Some Scorch Marks

    Greetings Badcaps,

    Hardware:
Samsung SyncMaster TA350 LED Monitor w/ TV Tuner

    The Problem:
Unit began powering itself on and off

    Troubleshooting:
Went through process, determined it was most likely related to hardware. Based on what I had read I had suspected bad capacitors, however found some scorch marks caused by a possible short.

    Images of Findings:
    1) Opened up back panel, and took a look at the power supply (not sure if that's what it's called?). Highlighted in red in "Open Panel.jpg"
    2) Found burn marks on one of the connectors. "Burn Marks.jpg"
    3) A closeup of the female connector on the power supply board (again not sure of nomenclature). "Insert Closeup.jpg"

So, it appears that there was a short in the board, and it's possible that the wire is just fried. I didn't see any damage on the reverse side, all capacitors look normal, everything else seems good.

    The Question:

I'm considering just finding a replacement wire and possibly a replacement female contact to replace the burned stuff. Would anyone else have any other recommendations, or should I just go ahead?

You could ghetto mod it too: Just cut the cable, desolder the connector and then solder the wires directly on the PCB.
You will still have a connector left on the other side...

That's actually a great idea... I'm having a heck of a time finding the cable to purchase, anyway. I may have to go that route...

You wouldn't happen to know what the cable is called, would you? :-P

        Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
        by soopacrucial
        Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...
