What happened to my faithful Sony LCD?!?!

Went to use it the other day and was greeted with this in the lower right-hand corner:

(It's amazing how much the flash shows dirt!!!)

What is it, and can it be fixed??? Some of the pixels seem to be blue, while others are definately black. And, the borders are definately rigid, meaning there's no bleed-through from one pixel to the next. Weirdest thing I've seen...

Re: What happened to my faithful Sony LCD?!?!

That's odd... nothing hard should've hit it there. Even my flashlights aren't that tall (as if the cat knocked one over...)

As I continue to use it tonight, a majority of it is turning from black to blue. And now, I can even see my cursor through it, where before it was like the pixels were just off. I'm going to hope that it lightens up over time. The panel is 3 years old, though... just imagine, I paid $300 for a 17" and it was a good price at the time!!!!

I do believe you are right, kc8adu

        here's some macro shots-

My guess is this... I went to unhook my computer so that I could take it down and hook it up to my TV downstairs. In the process of either unhooking or rehooking, I must've swung a plug or something into it while fishing cables behind the desk. Probably the power adaptor for my MX1000's charging cradle

How long do you think the screen will work like this? It does appear to have broken a small number of pixels in the upper middle of the main blob, which sent "L" through the surrounding "CD", finally running a small line down to the lower corner. Kind of an interesting pattern, really. Path of least resistance?

            Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
            by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
