I acquired three Acer X241W all with the same symptoms:
Green power led comes on, but no backlight. Will turn on and off normally, but no backlight. I could not tell if there was an image when looking at it w/ flashlight.
Many of the caps on PSU looked bulged so I got a repair kit and used it to recap the psu. I also replaced one cap on the mainboard that looked iffy.
It didnt come with enough capacitors to recap everything, but I was able to replace most of the capacitors and all of the ones that looked shady. I noticed budm's Acer x241 photos were used by the seller of this repair kit.
Still had the same issue so I started trying to use my limited troubleshooting skills and found that there was a bad blue body 3a fuse on the top of the inverter.
I replaced this fuse and it blew again, so then I replaced all three capacitors on the inverter board (1000mf 30v) with 1000mf 35v caps I bought from digikey.
I replaced the fuse a 2nd time as well and it does not blow when I turn the LCD on.
But - When the recapped inverter is hooked up I hear a buzzing sound from the PSU and I still get no backlight, just green power led.
If I take the inverter out of one of the other monitors I have (exact same symptoms, and inverter also has the same blown fuse) the power supply stops buzzing but, of course, still no backlight.
I have attached pictures and marked every cap that I replaced with a red "R"
