    Acer V223w

    Hello,

I found a broken Acer V223w. Graphics is completely messed up (vertical lines, colour fades, etc). Video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-RObftY2KE

I haven't even popped it open yet, from what I've read here the panel is probably borked and there's no hope of saving it. Is this right?

    Thanks!

Yups, judging by the static location of those vertical lines, that panel is borked. Unless you can find another working panel of the same brand/model or a compatible one, this monitor is toast...

Alright, thanks! I'll have a look around and see if I can find another one, otherwise I guess don't mind making this one an organ donor if anyone need parts from it.

Hello again, sorry to not let this go but I just tested it a few last times before tucking it away, and I just think my first video was a bit misleading, particularly because the "judging by the static location of those vertical lines"...

Every time the monitor is turned on, the lines will appear at different locations, and at many times, everything will look perfect for several seconds, until one or two blocks of lines appear at a random location, and only after that everything freaks out until the monitor is reset.
Usually though, the lines will have already appeared somewhere when the display lights up, and in this case it will start very bright.

I've made another, shorter (35 sec) video where I turn the display on and off 4 times, I think it better represents the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoY3-v-f0DI

Note: It appears that the screen "resets" completely between the Acer logo and the "Check signal cable" box, so sometimes the problem actually goes away at this point, in the video, it happens to appear instead though.

I trust your opinion of course, I just felt I hadn't properly shown the issue! Thank you for your time!

I don't know much about LCD failure modes but if the lines are randomly located perhaps something is getting confused due to a power issue, I would definitely open it and see if there was anything obvious

Or perhaps your video processor IC is faulty

              Re: Acer V223w

Finally got around to opening it up... Couldn't see anything wrong with anything... But when putting the thing together I managed to completely ruin the cable between the logic board and the panel AND the connector for it on the panel so this thing is screwed now for sure.

I'm happy to sell or give away any of the parts for this thing if anyone is interested, let me know. (I'm in Sweden.)

By the way, the panel inside it is an LG LM220WE1.

              Thanks everyone for your time!!!
