    Ok to replace 25v 470uf with 25v 1000uf?

I replaced 6 bulging caps on a power board, but still nothing happens on the screen.

Could possibly be another cap that was inline, but I'm wondering if the caps I replaced them with are too high rated.

This is on a Samsung 2032BW.

Yes, that can cause problems, especially if you use crap caps like Maplins and some eBay sellers distribute.

... some generic ones from ebay. Have worked wonders on other monitors. I have some new better low ESR ones coming... maybe I should wait for them.

Not just enough to be "low ESR"... also have to be high quality e.g. Panasonic, Rubycon, United Chemicon/Nippon Chemicon, Nichicon, Sanyo...

I fixed a monitor I am using with some eBay caps, and it has been fine. Today I turned it on and it was quite dark. I turned it off and on, and it was back to normal brightness.

Is this to do with the caps?

Also I did buy some other caps, the brand is "Suntan", are these shite?

Suntan are cheapo caps we get over here (Australia) at Jaycar Electronics along with "S.I.", but even those are good enough to at least fix a TV or set top box.

By the sounds of it, there might be more bad caps. Make sure the bad caps didn't pass on the bad cap "virus" to the main board (my LCD had a cap killed on the main board due to 3 bad Samxon caps in the PSU passing on excess ripple).

Ok, just bought 20 Panasonic caps to make up for it.

I will open it up again and check the other caps. Only replaced the blown ones.
