    acer al1916w (with pics)

3 black caps look bad. should i replace all of them (including the smaller brown ones?)
the big cap looks ok, and i guess generally isnt replaced?

also have seen lots of "smps" chips / TEA1532 on other acer monitors go bad. my monitor doesnt seem to have one of these. I see "dap8a" 8 pin, and "bit3713" 14 pin chips and not sure what they are exactly.

    power board says
    dac-19m005
    DA2BF

    monitor issues:
Monitor recently started repeating the logo screen and not showing the desktop. After 5 minutes or so of doing this, then it will turn on and work normally.

A few days later, it would repeat the logo for a while and then the power light would go orange and fade in color and the monitor would go black. I could unplug and plug back in the power, then it would repeat the logo screen and work (eventually.)

Keeps taking longer and longer to turn on, but once it's on it stays on.

This board is known to have bad caps and also will take out the fuse for the Inverter circuits and take out the MOSFET's (3-pin device with metal tab). So check them.

      dap8a is a ncp1203d6 pwm controller.

testing mosfets is basically out of my league. is it possible to test them without removing them, with a multimeter?

i found a few places talking about how to do it, but nothing for dummies.
the way where you charge it up with a multimeter and then short 2 pins made sense, but you have to remove it for this way?

also, my monitor does work after it "warms up," i'm assuming that means the fuses are ok

You can measure it in the circuits, set the Ohm meter to 200 Ohm range, label pin as 1, 2, 3. (tab away from you, legs point toward you).
          Measure
          1-2
          1-3
          2-3

No power to the monitor, of course.
You know how to solder and read diagram?
I would replace all 7 caps all grouped together by the heatsink.

I'll get a read on the mosfets in a bit. What ohm reading makes them bad, and what if 200 ohms isnt a high enough number to read them?

I can solder basic stuff, though more used to doing wires.

I can probably match up numbers on a diagram, dunno how well i would be at the 50 step diagnosis/volt/ohm checking though but willing to give it a shot if it comes to it.

              mosfets with multi on 200

              mosfet, pin ohms
a, b = maxed out on 200 all 3 pins (upper right corner)
              1-2 1-3 2-3
              c = 128.5, 0.1, max
d = 125.7, 0.1, max (both of these bottom right corner near the bad caps)

e= maxed out on 200 all 3 pins (bottom left corner)

trying to measure the ones that maxed out @ 200ohms lead into the 20k-20m range slowly rising.

              mosfet a, b = 40t03gp
              mosfet c = sbt100
              mosfet d = sbt150
              mosfet e = p6nk602fp

fuse i only used the continuity tester and im not sure which pins to use. it beeped on 2 different pins on the back with the other lead on the fuse. not sure if i'm supposed to be looking at volts or what pins

I forget to tell you that the two MOSFETS for the inverter are the two that laying down flat on the board with white glue holding them down. Are they the one that show max out on 200 scale on the meter?
I try to upload the SCH for the board, 2.3Mb, but I keep getting failed error!

Good you are OK. So I would order a good set of caps, PANASONIC FM (I prefer), or FC series from Digikey.

                      thanks for the help.

I plan on ordering tomorrow. 6 of the black caps and the "sideways" brown one unless it isnt needed? what about the 2 small brown ones in the bottom middle of the first attach?

Those are for the primary side, I would say g ahead and replace them also so you will not have to do them in the future. When you get the caps, replace the 7 pieces (yes, the one that laid down on the side also) first and see if the monitor will function. The other two later.

How to force Acer Aspire Series to bootup BIOS/UEFI on external Monitor?
                          by maralexbar
I ask this question in general as there are many Acer Aspire models with UEFI Insyde BIOS that do not boot to the BIOS on an external monitor (VGA, HDMI, etc) showing only the Internal LCD (LVDS, eDP etc).
It's a pain to work on Acer notebooks with a broken screen and not being able to access the BIOS using an external monitor.

If anyone knows how to force the external monitor as primary for Notebooks of those models

                          by 3D Modelka
Hello. I have a problem with my AOC 27 monitor, specifically model Q27G2WG4, which I have been using for 3 years. The monitor stopped turning on: when I turn it on, the backlight turns on, the indicator starts glowing white, but the logo on the screen does not appear, and there is no image. However, if I check in the Windows system, the monitor is displayed as connected and working. I tried connecting it via HDMI and DP, but the result remains the same. If I turn the monitor on and off multiple times, it will eventually start and work. However, when the monitor is working, there are no issues....
