    eMachines LE1938 monitor - FIXED!!

Hello all. I just joined to say thanks for the source of information and the vast knowledge of the members here.

A few days ago, I turned my monitor back on, which had not been powered off for several months, and it would not power on fully. The power button/LED on the front would just blink. I walked out of the room and when I returned a few minutes later, the monitor was working fine. After another power off, it would not turn on again-back to the flashing LED. I stumbled across this forum after a search of symptoms. After a few minutes of browsing a few threads, I was stripping the monitor down to check the caps. Low and behold, I found some SUX'CON (Su'scon ) caps that were bulging. I needed my PC today, and luckily, I happened to catch a local electronic distributor about 15 minutes before he closed. There were only two bulging caps, so I got those two for a whopping $2.30, came home and swapped them out. The monitor is working like a dream. I ordered replacements for the other caps that were not replaced. I'm also going to replace one of the caps that I purchased today. It was a 85*C cap, but I'll make it match the other 105*C caps. Here's a few pics that I took along the way... Thanks again. Now I need to find some people throwing some of these "bad" monitors away and fix them.

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
    by black6host
    Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
    by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

    EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GS AGP 256MD2 [256-A8-N542-T2] with bad caps - fixed
    by momaka
I did it again – I had to fulfill my inner desire to fix yet another old piece of hardware. This one is actually kind of worthwhile, too – it’s an EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GS AGP video card, model P/N: 256-A8-N542-T2. With the popularity of “retro” PCs from the Win9x to XP era going up, and the diminishing supply of decent AGP cards, it is expected their prices will go up. Or is it? I bought the this video card rather on the cheap side (~$9 USD shipped to my door), because the eBay seller listed it for parts or repair (and correctly noted the bad capacitors.)

    So, here is the...

Westinghouse L2210NW LCD monitor - bad caps repair
    by momaka
Here's another LCD monitor repair: Westinghouse L2210NW.
Quick specs: 22” CCFL backlit LCD, 1680x1050 max resolution (16:10 aspect ratio)

I got it with a bunch of desktops PCs from a repair shop that was trying to free up space a few years ago. It seemed like a cheap monitor, so I didn't really care that much at first when I picked it up (and indeed it is, picture-wise.) But hey, free is free, so I can't complain. Moreover, it looked clean and the screen didn't have any significant scratches or blemishes.

Pictures of the monitor outside/case after a brief...
