    Samsung 2333SW - 2 sec to black

All of the capacitors look to be in perfect shape. Is my next target the transformer? If so, I am having issues even finding the 8TC00444. Is that the part number? See attached picture of the only numbers on the transformer.

Also, do I have to remove the transformer to test or can it be measured in-circuit?

    Thanks.

You can measure it in circuit.

BTW, cap manufacturers have figured out how to make caps that fail without any obvious signs.

These two are not an exact match, but they start with 8TC0.

All the secondary pins are on the outside and should measure around 1.0K ohms.

Here are the values I measured on the transformer (in circuit).

        P301 to P302 = .3 ohms
        P301 to P303 = .3 ohms
        P301 to P304 = .1 ohms
        P302 to P303 = .1 ohms
        P302 to P304 = .3 ohms
        P303 to P304 = .3 ohms

        S301 to S302 = 1.019 k ohms
        S301 to S303 = OL
        S301 to S304 = OL
        S302 to S303 = OL
        S302 to S304 = OL
        S303 to S304 = 1.014 k ohms

After I feed the family, I plan on replacing the capacitors. I will update after that.

This might be a good time to provide photos of the entire top and bottom of the power board. See PlainBill's links above for posting photos.

Those readings indicate the transformer is probably good.

Good priorities. Family first, then the monitor.

To PlainBill : You were correct about the caps failing and not looking bad.

I replaced three capacitors on the board. Two were 1000uF 16v and the other was 470uF 10v. The other capacitors were values that I did not have in my limited collection, so I decided to test the monitor with just the three new caps. It worked fine!
The offending capacitors were made by a company called "Sam Young".

Now for the follow up question. Do I order the two 680uF 35v and the four 47uF 50v and finish replacing all the capacitors on the board, or do you think the 1000uF capacitors were the only bad ones?

Thanks for your help so far.

Sam Young caps fall into the category of 'Replace on Sight'. Still, I am a Liberal and believe we all have the right to make our own decisions, and the duty to live by the consequences of those decisions.

A very likely consequence of NOT replacing all the caps will be that one or more will also fail. If you are using the monitor, you will have the pleasure of opening up the monitor and replacing the remainder of the caps. If you have sold it, you will have an unhappy buyer.

                  Just an update.
Replaced all of the capacitors and the monitor works like a dream. I had another identical model that was dead as well. Replaced all of the capacitors in that monitor, and it works fine too.
Tonight I hope to replace the capacitors on another Samsung model 2233sw.

My wife is going to kill me. I have 5 Samsung Syncmaster 204Bs, 2 Samsung Syncmaster 940N, 2 Samsung 2333SW, and next a Samsung 2233SW in the basement. I have to start getting these out of the house! 10 monitors and only one computer. HAHAHAH!

Thanks again everyone for all of the help.

I understand the situation, but I don't see the problem. Choose 1 monitor you want to use, and another to keep as a spare / test purposes. Sell the rest. For Mother's Day buy your wife some flowers, send the kids to the grandparents, take her out to a very nice restaurant for a great dinner, a few drinks, - maybe a little dancing. When you get home she MAY kill you, but you'll die with a smile on your face.
