2) Please do not post pictures inline as they slow down the loading of pages.
3) For best picture quality and clarity take your boards to a window on a sunny day, turn flash off, and use macro mode. Take a top down view of all your boards (front and back). Make sure the photo is legible so that we can read the PCB printing clearly. A shutter speed of 1/125 or faster will produce nice clear focused pictures. Try to get a photo that is 2000x2000 resolution or as close as possible.
4) Here is an example of the pictures we want.

5) Do you have a multimeter?
6) Pick ONE (1) monitor to work on first otherwise people will get confused trying to help solve both monitors in one thread.--- begin sig file ---
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 171s and 151s
That PSU Board looks very similar (if not identical) to my 151BM's one.
Have you checked both primary fuses? (the black cylinders next to the AC socket)
It also looks like it got pretty damn hot in there. So even if the fuses check out fine, the caps may be baked dry. if the startup cap(s) are affected (the 2 tiny ones pretty much in the center), it would prevent the PSU from starting up..

On the power board, measure the DC voltage on all the pins on connector CN2. Post the results.
If you are not familiar with how to properly use a multimeter, please say so and we can provide instructions.--- begin sig file ---

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 171s and 151s
Okay, that makes sense. I wasn't sure what he meant by the "the 2 small ones".
And for all the newbies reading, this is ANOTHER reason why we always ask for pictures of YOUR board. Scenic noticed that from the pictures that heat discolors the board pretty good. If you use generic pictures or someone else's pictures, Scenic would have never noticed that and which led to the suggestion about the small startup caps.Last edited by retiredcaps; 02-18-2011, 02:26 PM.--- begin sig file ---
