Just wanted to post here my story in hopes it might help someone or help some newbies feel better about approaching a repair.
I have a Samsung 226BW 22" Widescreen LCD it's about 3 years old, it started flicking when it was turned on, the screen would flash black then back to my desktop over and over again, until it warmed up. Research on the net confirmed it's a common problem, and said I needed new caps. So I said I really really like this display and don't have the money for new one, so I am going to try to fix it. I was scared to do it, and I shouldn't have been, I was done with the whole project in the matter of about hour and a half and was easy as could be. I have only been behind a soldering iron a few times and never toke apart an LCD before. So the bottom line is if your LCD is acting bad from from bad caps don't be scared and dive right in there, you have nothing to lose if it's failing anyways.
Total cost of the repair was under $10 dollars with shipping from Ebay.
I replaced:
C112
C114
C111
C316
C317 All 820Uf 25V CapXcon, Replaced with 820Uf 25V Nippon Chemi-Con
