Yes you do. Do you want an instant diagnosis based on very little information, or would you like to approach the problem systematically?

If you want to jump in and throw money at the problem, order REPAIR KIT E172FPB E173FPB FP72G FP731 - 2SC5707 C5707 from an eBay seller and install it.

If you want to take an intelligent approach, open the monitor up, take pictures (top and bottom) of the power supply / inverter and ATTACH them to your next post. See the link in my signature for instructions.

          Some questions:
Do you own a multi-meter, and do you know how to use it?

          Can you solder?

If the answer to all of those was yes, then we can probably help you.

You can't always see bad capacitors, blown transistors and blown fuses just by looking at them. The chances of the problem being the logic board are about 1% 99% more likely is the power supply/inverter circuitry.

So if you can answer the questions, post good clear photos of the top and bottom of the boards, and mabe even hint at what part of the world you're in, we can move forward.

Excellent. Next step, post some photos, and we'll give you some tips on what to test.
I'm betting at least 1 bad transistor and pico fuse.

The agreement I have with Topcat is that I am allowed to have a life. Taking most of a day to upload the pictures, uploading useless pictures, then expecting help within 18 minutes suggests you should get one too.

                            <facepalm>

I think you need to re-read a few posts. We said "Good CLEAR pictures" and I asked do you have a multi-meter and know how to use it....

Luckily PlainBills newly modified eyes could magically read the component designations.

And seriously... 4:43 AM (MDT) and you're impatient for responses? Oy!

We'll help you, but really, try to help us help you.....

Put your meter on the diode test setting, then test each transistor.
Red on base black on collector
Red on base black on emitter
Red on collector black on emitter
then reverse red and black and repeat.

You should see a reading between approximately .400 to .800 in one direction, and open in the other.
I suspect you'll see at least one that's shorted. Also test the fuse. If one of the transistors shorted it will likely have taken out the fuse.

Probably also a good idea to mention resoldering the transformers. Several reminders may be necessary...

Yes was going to get to that in a seperate post.
Some people (like some of my co-workers :slap: ) when sent an email with 2 questions, always seem to only answer 1.

If you send each question in a seperate email, they magically get answered.

Kinda like when you post "please post pictures, AND tell us where you are"
you'll never find out where they are </hint>

Yes. The transistors and fuse Plain Bill listed are all involved in the inverter circuit, which is responsible for powering the lamps.
