    Samsung 913T preemptive re-cap?

Since my $7.00 Gateway 2185 has taken over as my main monitor, I'm donating my trusty old Samsung 913T to my mother, for her new computer.

I thought I'd crack it open and see if I should re-cap it.

Wow, seems much better built than the Benq, Acer, Dell and LG crap I've been fixing lately.
The Samyoung caps are nice and flat (yes I know flat doesn't mean they're not bad), but a forum search indicates they're of questionable quality. Since the hard part is cracking these mofos open, guess I'll re-cap it. I have a pretty good stock of Panny FMs so hopefully I have the right values.

    Would you guys re-cap?
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

Personally, I would recap it. Wouldn't want mom calling in 6 months with bad news.

Definitely recap. Mom's worth the $10.00 or so the caps will cost.

I suspect a number of problems we see are due to using a monitor with a failing power supply. Eventually something else fails, then you've got a major troubleshooting problem on your hands.

And don't forget her on her birthday. Even a phone call is good.

Well, she's never paid for a computer since her first XT clone in '87 so she's done ok.
Though her last desktop was getting pretty long in the tooth.
She didn't like the notebook I gave her (I told her she wouldn't like it, but she doesn't listen...) so this new computer is a new Core 2, and a new laser printer.

But you're right, I need to call her more often. I *never* forget her birthday.
