Were you in any way successful?

I have a cloud cv1000 here that shows no sign of life when powered on.

There seem to be at least two revisions of the cv1000, mine looks like this:

The ?caps? seem pretty wrinkled, but I have no idea about their ratings, so getting a replacement seems futile.

The power resistor on the soft start board seems to have opened, I'll swap it with a new one and replace the relais next to it.

Their rating will be printed on the sides.
That said if there really is no printing it can be estimated from the size of the capacitor and referencing the size chart of any capacitor datasheet...
But you will need to know voltage, that can of course be measured...
The wrinkles could be completely normal, feel the top and if it is flat they are probably ok.

The tops feel flat, I suspect/hope it's *just* the soft starter. I'm currently ordering the parts (22ohm 10w power resistor + 48v 16a relay) and hope that this fixes it

Post a picture of the soft start, I'm curious how they implemented it.
Here is one I designed if it might be of any help:

                  Sure!

But I've already assembled the amp and put it back in the rack, so I'll make them when I've got the parts and have to remove the starter for soldering anyway (since I've measured the resistor in situ I haven't done so yet).

I had to look whether I need a 8 or 6 pin relay, so there are pictures of front+back+a merged version for easier reversing hth

Thanks, that's humorously close to the design in my first post on eevblog.
Probably with all the caveats I mention in my post at paragraph three there.

So if you want to make it better you can loan some ideas from that thread.
But if the datecode on your capacitors (week 45, 1986) is anything to go by it's good enough already!

I've replaced the power-resistor and the relais. But as soon as I connect the amp to mains and turn it on the power-resistor opens again :'(

Any ideas how to further debug this?

Check the thread I linked on eevblog, it might have some details for use.
I would use an incandescent light bulb in series with the unit.
The problem on mine was that at a higher voltage the main filter cap was shorted.
If you blow the power resistor it could be something similar...

                            Hello Everyone,

This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....

                            Apogee SA400 Amplifier Service Manual
                            by Nevillet
                            Hi all,

I have an old Apogee SA400 power amplifier on the bench and need to track down a service manual. I remember being told in the past that these amps were made by Crest and are similar to the CA series but the layout looks very different and there are no PCB markings to help.

Any thoughts or pointers would be great.

                            Many thanks.

How to test Subwoofer Amplifier with only a multimeter
                            by jinu_j
                            Hi Folks

Need some advice on how to test a subwoofer amplifier if i have access to only a multimeter.

                            Problem
I have a Boston Acoustics active Subwoofer (soundware S). Its rated output is 200W. But the output i am getting is very low i can barely hear/feel it even if put the gain at max. I replaced all the capacitors in the Subwoofer amplifier but still no change.

Is there anyway to test this without getting an oscilloscope/Function generator to see if the fault is with amplifier, driver or the source??

                            Any advice would be appreciated...
