    stj, my hat goes off to you, you are THE man! Happy to report that IC201 was in fact the culprit, with a new one in place I now have a fully functioning boombox!

        I was shocked myself, I'm in NY and it apparently shipped from GA...UPS Ground...I'm not asking questions!
