Denon AVR-X3600H No sound even to pre outs in direct analog mode. Help please!

Hi, I have a Denon AVR-X3600H I'm trying to repair. I have no electronics repair experience but I have a multimeter, service manual and a will to fix it (https://device.report/m/d5de8c00e617...f63147aba9.pdf)

Everything seems to work except for no sound even through the pre outs. However I will get sound using Zone 2 pre outs.

Only digital symptom I can tell is it will soft lock when in the Speakers/Test Tone menu and be unable to adjust +/- db during the test tone.

I've followed the trouble shooting guide, audio check (page 83 in the manual) booted it in service path check mode 1. Analog direct but still no sound.

Looking at the analog audio diagram (page 49) there's only two chips between analog in and pre outs. Input selector (NJU72750) and volume control (NJU72343) however there's two sets of them.

Both input selectors (NJU72750) seem to be good because I can change sources (even digital ones) fine in zone 2

I'm thinking something is wrong with the volume control chips (NJU72343) but it seems unlikely to me that both would die at the same time. I've checked the voltage regulator that powers them and its good, although I haven't checked it at the chip. Its not accessible without taking the essentially the whole thing apart. Also input selectors (NJU72750) are powered by the same rail so I think its fine.

Looking at the schematic (page 24) The only other thing I could think could be wrong is some how the the data connection MVOL_DATA is not making it to the chips. Anyway to test this?

I'm thinking of ordering volume control chips NJU72343 for about $18 delivered from digikey and finding and paying some one to solder them. Does that sound like a good plan?

(Also is there any way to route zone 2 through the third input selector and amplifier to see if those are still good?)

Any help is appreciated Thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know how to get access to the firmware the service manual says to download it from the on line parts list sdi but it requires login. In particular I want the audio pld 5M570ZF256C5N firmware

Have you checked the settings to see if the zones are configured properly? Have you performed a factory reset yet?

I’ve factory reset. For now I’m just trying to pass stereo audio through so I don’t think the zones matter other than me being able to get audio through zone 2

Just going through some steps that I've also followed for my own issue, any difference between digital/analog sources? Do the relays click on/off like they should (eg by pressing mute)? Does passing the analog input signal through the DSP produce audio?

Update: When I plug headphones in and turn the sound all the way up I get very faint sound through them only on the phono input though which has an extra pre amplifier circuit. Now I’m looking into it being some sort of bad capacitor on a pre amplification circuit. Can anyone help isolate. page 24 on the service manual shows it I think but I don’t really know what I’m looking at.

Or could it be operational amplifiers?

I've measured the forward voltage drop of all 13 of the op amps most of them seem too high but the zone 2 ones seem okay which would explain why zone 2 works also I've measured the muting transistors all of them seem too high even zone 2. Page 24 shows 7 of the op amps (njm8080g) and the muting transistors (inc2002ac1) and page 27 shows the other 6 op amps.

Any idea what could've caused this? If I replace just the op amps would it work?

                        hello guys,

first of all i'm not a qualified repair guy, i am a diy guy and as years pass by i have some experience on repairing eletronics, and i'm hoping someone can share their experience.

i have a marantz sr6012, some times it turns on and works normal, but after a while the sound cuts off or it starts getting distorted and then cuts off.

when this happens there is no audio no matter the source used, and the OSD shows unknow audio signal from the source.

i was reading very carefuly the service manual and it is all pointing for...

                        Hello,
As a foreword I'm relatively novice with component level audio gear repair. My amplifier stopped producing sound and I currently have no funds to buy a new one so I need any help to repair it. I know "no sound" is one of the most common problem but there were other symptoms so some of you seasoned repairman might able to pinpoint the stuff I have to check. I did download the service manual from manualslib the "no sound checklist" is a bit intimidating.

So i bought it working. First symptom: speaker protection relays on the audio board were clicking...

                        Anthem MRX500 - no sound

                        Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

                        by LEECH666
                        Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Marantz SR5007 popping on volume change and mute in Direct Mode
                        by BigOof
                        Hi,

I bought a used Marantz SR5007 and it's giving me some issues that I can't seem to really place. It functions well in most settings, ARC mostly works, it has no issues driving my speakers in any of the digital input modes, but I'm having issues running analog inputs in direct or pure direct mode. For some reason in this mode there's distortion for every volume increment I give it, but once the volume is stable it has no issues. Muting creates a loud pop, switching to another source also causes a pop and so does turning off the amp in that mode. Again, no issue in the digital modes....
