    EV7200 Amplifier - Shuts Down

    Hello,
Not much experience repairing audio equipment.
This was working and stopped when disconnected and moved to a different location.
When power is turned on, the ON LED and both Protect LEDs come on, but within about 1 sec. you can hear a relay click and both Protect LEDs turn off.

There is a visibly overheated resistor R65 with the paint flaked off, that is supposed to be 1.5KOhm, it still measures 1.5KOhm. I also checked temp of that resistor with thermal cam. its about 140C.
So far checked incoming voltage and board voltage. Both DC output and AC output are present all the time after powering on. AC=48V; DC= 129V.
Would like some direction what to check next.

Attaching pictures and manual with wiring diagram from ElectroTanya.

Any help would be much appreciated.

check the line voltage first ..
then remove d16 and check it .

R65 should be roasting normally... poor design but that's what it is... but if it breaks you won't get any sound out.

If D16 shorts, would the relay even click?

the relay should click the speakers off during weird situations like overpower or even rapid start up of one of the rails. this is an interesting design that it actually seems to protect both up and down transitions (unlike some of my amps they only protect one transition).

From what i'm seeing this almost seems normal operation, is the problem that there's no music coming out? Testing with speakers right at the output or have really long wires to the speaker that could be suspect?

(as an aside, is that bridge rectifier on that schematic drawn right? Maybe I'm just not used to seeing all the diodes drawn out...)

Polk Audio RTi100 Plate Amplifier won't power on and intermittently honks and buzzes
        by MrCommunistGen
My childhood best friend was killed about 9 years ago. His parents are finally letting go of his things, and they offered me his Polk RTi100 tower speakers. The Polk RTi100 towers are one of a handful of designs from the early 2000s that is a full range 3-way tower with a built-in self-powered subwoofer. This is accomplished with a plate amp integrated into the speaker input panel.

I think they used them for a while, but they've been sitting for at least a few years now. After about 40 hours of driving to their house and back (both they and I have moved in the last 9 years) I got...

SO i turn the laptop on , and as soon as it starts booting from disk, from usb, windows, linux,HBCD,anything i boot it just turns off....while in bios menu or in linux boot menu it stays on normally...It's like when it starts to use graphics it shuts down...But i measured 0.72V while working on the GPU power line,no excess heat is comming from GPU or CPU, i even removed the heatsink and turned the laptop on and everything worked fine, got a bit hot, fan span to full speed, but it worked like that for few minutes in bios...

How to test Subwoofer Amplifier with only a multimeter
        by jinu_j
        Hi Folks

Need some advice on how to test a subwoofer amplifier if i have access to only a multimeter.

        Problem
I have a Boston Acoustics active Subwoofer (soundware S). Its rated output is 200W. But the output i am getting is very low i can barely hear/feel it even if put the gain at max. I replaced all the capacitors in the Subwoofer amplifier but still no change.

Is there anyway to test this without getting an oscilloscope/Function generator to see if the fault is with amplifier, driver or the source??

        Any advice would be appreciated...

        Mackie CR4 amplifier no sound
        by UserXP
        Hi, people.

I've got an amplifier assembly from Mackie CR4 parts. It's just an amplifier, there was no speaker housing, so I used my set of CR4s to test it.

Anyway, upon connecting everything and hooking the "new" amplifier to an audio source, the sound played clearly and strongly for the first ten seconds. I was happy it was working. Then the sound started to fade out during the playback until it was no more. After it had "dropped to zero", there were two very short intervals of sound playing at the normal volume, as if the amplifier was trying to...

Rotel RSX-1056 amplifier. Troubleshoot a noisy channel
        by Francesc V.
        Hi:

I've realized that one of the channels of this amplifier has no proper sound.

This is the signal at the speakers output.

As long as the audio coming in to the amplifier board (blue) looks ok although with some noise due to the wire, I think that there's nothing to look at the preamp section.

Now, I could start looking at components to see whether I find the guilty one.......but I would rather prefer to ask for advice. Here there is the amp. schema. Which points would you check with the oscilloscope to gather...
