Kobolt battery pack modified with a Boston battery pack case

I modified a battery pack module controller to work on much bigger battery pack

But things did not go very well at first because the temperature sensor wire are very thin and very hard to clean the soldering joint hole I had use another board and attempt to repair this board later if needed for another project

Because the temperature sensor wires are very short and had to be made longer
which the second attempt when a lot better

This is for my Ksger t12 soldering iron station

The Kobolt battery pack charger was modified to charge this battery pack

( the charger case was used in another Ksger battery operated soldering station I put the charger controller board in a computer switching power supply case )

Here are some pictures below ( these pictures are to see if the battery pack module controller would work correctly or not with a bigger battery pack )

The charger does not take very long to charge this battery pack but it was about 80% charged

I will take more pictures tomorrow how the case looks

Re: Kobolt battery pack modified with a Boston battery pack case

I bought two of these battery packs

Well I found some more of this type of battery packs that I bought before but this version is 18650 battery packs but these cost a lot less because these units are older and one thing that I noticed with this version they seem to have a issue with one battery pack rails that the battery voltage is a lot lower than the other two battery pack rails are

I will have to take the battery pack that one of the rails battery voltage is 1.something
the other battery pack third rail voltage 2.something is a better candidate for revile of this pack but not a guarantee that it would charge correctly or not but I could take one of the battery packs and make one good one

The battery rails that have good battery voltage is 3.something these batteries are probably still good but I will have them as well to see how much battery life is still left

I will probably post some pictures of these battery packs tomorrow or the next day

Well here are some pictures of the battery pack and as you can see that I am charging the battery rail that was severely down on charge and I started at 100 milliamperes setting and waited until the battery voltage came up to 2.5 volts it started off at 0.880 volts

I have continuously checked the battery voltage and the temperature and so far so good

Then I went up to 1 amp charging and it also so far ok

But then I had to go and do some running around and food shopping

So I stopped the charging the battery voltage came up 3.40 volts and when I got done shopping and went to resume the charging at one amp the voltage only dropped on to 3.28volts

It turns out that I would not be able to use these batteries that were so low on voltage because when the voltage gets close to 4 volts they got hotter and hotter and when load tested they only had a amp hour of 600 to 800 milliamperes hours so not good at all
