Ottlite brand Light Box came in the mail today great for looking through circuit boar

I have had this item in my wishlist for sometime at Joann for $179.00
But for Black Friday it went on sale for $69.00

I said yea let me get this at this price

I need a light box to be able to look through circuit boards when I can not find a circuit diagram for that board

I have used the magnifying light that I have but it to small to use it for this
kind-a use

But what I just bought will work very well for doing this kind-a thing
What nice about this light box is that it has three light levels
The light box is a very nice size it also has storage bins on it

Yeah I know what what you think that this is mostly by arts and crafts people and you would be right

The magnifying glass that I bought was from Joann as well which also has storage bins on it but I modified it I took the storage bin unit off of it and mount the magnifying glass on the top shelf underneath the table of work table

I do use the storage bins that came off of it

And yes I also bought this when it was 60% off as well

Never know where and when you can get useful stuff...
The circline lamp is excellent for magnifiers, it always bothered me with the point source lamps that cast shadows.

I don't have/use a lightbox, still using a flashlight. Don't know what the best solution is, almost seems like a laser or some coherent (or distant) light source is best to look for buried tracks and vias...

When you have this light box light is on high it very bright

I have used flashlight to this before but I find this to be a pain in ass
I mess around with a lot of switching power supply board and the like

This light box is going to make my life a bit easier to this type of work

I would have like to have this light box when I was working on PLC controller problem a few weeks ago

The magnifying glass light I use to buy them from Harbor Freight but the hinges wear out in a couple years and then it becomes worth to use when this happens

The last one I bought from them it not last more than a year

hmm... I guess I've never done that on PSU boards (usually 2-layer or less). Usually I just photograph at most, otherwise just look at it. Not sure why I don't use light through the board when I flashlight multilayer (buried foil) boards. Now multilayer boards, coherent light may be helpful, too much dispersion with incoherent light.
