    What are these

I opened up an Antec Basiq 500 to replace the crapxons, and found these on the bottom are they really resistors/diodes that are just...micro plastic components (the oranges rectangles)

    No, it's just glue.

A pick and place style machine puts those drops on the circuit board and then a chip shooter machine puts the surface mounted components on top.
The board goes through an "oven" which heats up the glue to activate it and now the smt components are glued in place.
The glue keeps the surface mounted components in place so the board can be flipped on the other side to insert through hole components (transformers, inductors, capacitors) and now the whole board can be moved through a wave soldering machine with the surface mounted components on the bottom and a wave of solder simply solders the components.

You can see the glue on the bottom of that diode on top right.

My guess is they just used a generic profile for several models in the series to apply the glue, to save money on re-tooling. So they put glue in places that don't need to be populated in this particular model of power supply from the series.

god this fucking PSU. They have custom made CrapXon KF series that are 8xXX. There is one heatshrink wrapped 8x25 in a TIGHT spot. All I can find are 10xXX other caps for the V/u
