Atten 8586 S-E (Iron stoped heating)

Hi, I just went to use my atten 8586 soldering iron but when i went to heat the iron i got an error on the display saying S-E and the iron isn't heating, I think maybe the heating element has failed but was just wondering if there is a way to verify this before i go buy replacement parts,

S-E means sensor error, so I would check for an open circuit in the sensor or the wiring/connector. I don't own this soldering station and not sure if the sensor is a thermocouple or RTD.
