Since I can't find solder paste in my country and it's too expensive to order online I decided to try and make my own. It looked a bit rough but it worked flawlessly!! I mixed some solder dust with flux paste and soldered some smd capacitors with with a hot air station and it worked almost like the real thing (you might need to heat it up for a while longer to melt it). The only problem is making the dust really fine and you will end up having some large solder chunks in the paste but for someone who can't get their hands on the stuff locally its a good alternative. The ratio at which I mixed the stuff is 4 parts solder dust and 1 part flux paste but you can pretty much go with how much liquidity you need for the stuff. You can also add isopropyl alcohol to make it more liquid.

I want to try solder paste for resoldering BGA chips and LGA sockets as I am having no luck at the moment. I have no problem safely removing the old part, it's getting the replacement one to solder which is where I am going wrong. The Type 5 solder paste link he gives in the above video says it is not available.
I want to use the paste like in the video on this thread

by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -

by Veyron7887Hi. I have Asus X55C laptop from year 2013. It has i3-2328M CPU. I replaced stock thermal paste with high quality thermal paste. Before thermal paste replacement, I measured CPU temperature Around 65-70 degrees Celcius with stock thermal paste. If after the replace thermal paste, I measured CPU temperature around 80-84 degrees Celcius and fan don't stop when system is idle. I replaced the thermal paste several times but still did not change. Where is the problem?
