Cyber Power ST625U Battery backup battery when bad so I going A123 type battery pack

I have had this battery backup for at 2 to 4 years now and the battery when bad and this is weird battery size it is the same length as a 12 volt @ 7 amp hour battery however the depth of is not the same as a 12 volt @ 5.5 amp hour battery

I have several battery packs that are A123 batteries cell so I bought a lipo4 BMS balancing protection board for these batteries and I have a configuration that is 4S 3P these battery packs were 3S 2P so I reconfigured them but left the tabbing on one side of the battery row of battery cells and re-tabbed the other side to the configuration that I need I will show some pictures when I put the battery pack back in the battery backup

The reason for doing this project is because I am in need of an extra battery backup and I did not want to buy another at this point in time and sense I had bought these battery packs for the battery operated air compressor but the test results were not consistent and the amp hours were all over the place I was lucky that I had two of the battery packs that basically had the same amp hours so I thought I would use them for this project

Also I had tested it with a lead acid battery that was not the right size but it was good enough to test it and it was working good

You mean LiFePo4 cells from manufacturer A123 Systems like their pouches or 26650's? I wasn't sure what package battery you are using or how a pack is made.
That UPS is pretty low cost, too cheap to use a common 7Ah battery and they use a skinny 5.5A? yuck.

Yes this battery backup is decent for what I paid for it but the size of battery is a hole another story and why they decided to use a 5.5 amp hour battery instead of a 7 amp hour is beyond me

This battery backup is going in the shed for a second battery testing machine setup that I am going to setup but I will eventually buy a forth one for this setup once I get the shed completely setup

I have several APC brand battery backup and they are decent but I have had issues with them when they get about 5 or more years old they start failing in strange ways sometimes and if I have replaced or repaired it once or twice I do not bother with them anymore and just buy a new version of them

The cyber power ones that I have was because either Costco or BJ had them on sale and might have even bought one from Sam Club as well when they have been been on sale ( I have one of these running on my outside cameras and monitor setup )

The APC high amp capacity ones with the LCD display version I have one for my TV /cable box I have a second one for the modem and switch and my battery testing machine / computer and monitor I have a third one for my new gaming computer and monitor setup

They are the 26650 version I have been not been fortunately enough to get hold of any pouch battery cells from them yet but the one that I have been fortunate enough to try I have not been impressed with because I find that do not seem to last very long and very easily damaged to the point that you can not use them

And the ones from A123 systems are extremely expensive because from time to time they have been offered on eBay but the ones that I have seen are used and still expensive

I have some that 18650 batteries supposedly from A123 systems but they do not the logo on them but the way the wrapper is it could be from them but they are only 1.5 amp hour but high current output but they are not consistent with the amp hour reading of the ones that I have tested so far but I do have enough of that are close enough to each other for a project but I have to figure out how I am going to configure the cells because of the screws that hold the enclosure together this enclosure had 21700 battery cells but the battery cells that I want to use 18650 battery cells

Battery Hookup has been having 123 systems battery cells lately and some of them have been not in the greatest condition but I just got 96 26650 battery cells that are 123 systems battery cells from Battery Hookup and they have good voltage on them but have not taken the battery pack apart yet because I been busy with my yard lights that have not been working correctly and been trying resolve the issue with them which I finally got these projects done today so I have some time to work on them because I need to make a battery pack for the gate opener at the street because this battery is probably not doing very well because I used it to test a APC battery backup that I bought used for a decent price and it does work I just need to get batteries for it

I have not decided weather or not I going to modify it to use lipo4 batteries or not because it did not like the fact that I tried to power the battery compartment with a adjustable power supply set at 24 volts which tells me that trying to modify this series might not work correctly and I am hesitant to experiment with something that was not just $40.00 this one was more than this

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
          by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

New project for a Lipo4 based battery pack for a battery backup that I found an enclosure from Battery Hookup
          by sam_sam_sam
Right now Battery Hookup has these e-bike battery packs that are used but I am going to remove them and test them and see how good they are and maybe resell or reused them for another project this is for another day

When I get the rack mounted enclosure that I mentioned in another post I will see how well they fit in the enclosure and how much room I will have left

These battery packs are a little bit hard to get out of the enclosure because they were a little bit glue...

How can I charge that battery pack?
          by razenxd
          Hello,
it's not a laptop/desktop related question but I figured that someone here will have the right knowledge.
At work we use a few Aldebaran(now Softbank/United Robotics group) Nao Robots which they use some custom 6S li-on battery packs.
Nao robots tends to draw from the battery even if they are shut down, and the BMS tends to be a little aggresive, if the pack stays on a turned off robot for 3 months it's gonna lock and will refuse to charge.

Now, I have noticed a few things.
The "dead" battery, while connected to charger and NOT Charging will...

Milwaukee M18 HD12.0 (12 amp hour battery pack) unbalanced failure charger refusing
          by sam_sam_sam
I have two Milwaukee 12 amp hours battery packs that have an issue with battery cells very unbalanced these are probably over 4 years old and been heavily used in the past but now get occasionally used heavily and when I went to use the grinder tool the battery lost battery battery power very quickly so I decided to open it up and found some battery cells voltage from 3.6 to 4.1 no wonder the battery charger was not fully charging them 3 out of 4 LEDs were on meaning that it was only 75% charged

So I have put them on the battery testing machine to drain each battery cell down to...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...
