    digital camera repair help

Hey folks I recently ran into problems with two of my cameras both wont power up I've already tried all the basics like battery door, batteries, reset, all the manual related stuff.

What I am looking for is a good source of professional information on camera repair things to look for common issues be it fuses or zener diodes or whatever.

A full service manual for any digital camera would be helpful. Just to give me a basic grasp.

The other thing I am looking for is a page full of pictures of different types of fuses that are used in electronics.

Is there any book with pictures and references to all the different components used on electronics that would be very useful as well things like SCK/thermistors different pictures of all the different packages I would love to have this type of book something that shows a picture then references its functions and so on for all common components used in circuits today...

I really appreciate all your help and look forward to your guidance down the road less traveled!

    Re: digital camera repair help

When you said you tried batteries, how did you try them? Do they have their own kind of rechargeable batteries or is it the regular kind which is easy to come by in any store? A very common problem with the special battery packs is that they either just wear out, or the temp sensor goes boom. One way to try it might be to hook up some kind of ac/dc adapter and trying to power it that way, just be sure to get the voltages and stuff right or it might damage more then it helps.

I have also seen some cameras get very power hungry as they get older, never investigated it further though since its been friends cameras it happened to and never mine. In those cases you can expand the life of the camera somewhat using higher mAh rechargeable batteries instead of the non rechargeable kind.

nahhh e2'd energizer will run anything weather rechargeable (my personal favorite) or lithium non rechargeable (which I presume are in fact rechargeable with the proper circuit but possibly dangerous) Why they don't make rechargeable lithium in regular cell size is rather annoying to me but I will be happy to see the zinc oxygen batteries coming out within the next year or so!

Anyhow I know batteries and packs fairly well and understand the logic behind them and the requirements for functionality and so forth the problem does not lie in the battery nor battery door this is confirmed!

Just a common problem with cameras not powering up.

Could lens as far as I can tell is still in good shape...

By the way I downloaded the digikey interactive guide that helps a bit but still need to do a little research on PCB markings and the legends for C L R etc etc...

Thanks for the reply though it is much appreciated!
