Help with a Strange Resistor please!

Wonder if anyone can help me. im just looking to read the value of this resistor that popped on a board. thing is, no matter what calculator i do online the colours dont seem to match?! I get Red, yellow, (nearest i can do now is grey though it looks silver) Gold, Then the last colour is white? white doesnt exist in the last code for tolerance? anyone able to offer an insight please? pic attached!

many thanks to anyone that offers some help in advance!

This might help you with this question

    https://www.utmel.com/tools/band-res...lculator?id=20

White is your first color and red is your last color

cheers sam, but thats what i was saying - i have went to 4 pages like that with colour calculators, and if you actually try and punch in the colours from that resistor they dont match up. ie, its a 5 band and when you get to the Tolerance or last band the colour isnt available. the one in my hand there is white'ish but there is no white for tolerance. also - band 3 the closest you can select is Grey, but in reality it looks very much like silver!?

not sure if im making this any clearer or worse!

      thanks

wait - your saying white is first? ahhh.. let me rewind...

so if white is my first, then gold would be second, and again there is no gold selection for those calculators!

I tried to do it as well and have a problem with the the gold band and it only has gold band if you start with red but there is no white band for the last band so I am confused about this maybe someone else can help you with this

Can get a resistance value from the resistor that you are showing

Just wait maybe someone else might have run into this issue and might have answer this questions

Have you checked it with an ohm meter yet

cheers, ill have a read at this. yeah i tested it with my multimeter but its totally burst. there are actually charred burns on the other side of it not in that pic, so i cant get a reading. frustrating!

The white band is throwing me off and I can not find anything about the double wide band

It's a 0.24 Ohms 1w , tolerance 5% .. The white band could be its low induction sign or flame proof .

im reading forums where people are having the same issue and they are saying its not a 5 band, but a 4 band with the 5th just being a tolerance band. that would make it 0.24 Ohms... it does marry up with the colour calculators though im not 100%...

Indeed but this is no regular resistance .. Yes it's 0.24 Ohms , but it's special one no doubt . I tend to assume it's for protection .

Similar one , but 0.47 ohms from my backups ..

yeah, i have ordered another one. i just checked the resistor next to it, and its dead too! same kind of resistor but 0.33Ohms. i did recap this board recently but i capped it like for like, and i spent extra money on nichicon caps. annoying!

thanks for help and feedback folks, very much appreciated!

                                    Hi

This looks to me like a MILL Standard Resister
If so its a 4 band resister.
the 5th band just means "military Solderable leads"

                                    Band 1 Red 2
                                    Band 2 Yellow 4
                                    Band 3 Silver X0.01 Multiplier
                                    Band 4 Gold 5% tolerance

                                    0.24 ohms @ 5%

                                    hope this helps

The last white band means Fusible
