Arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) software considerations

Five considerations for AWG software include the following:
    • Sampling rate (can also calculate repetition rate based on number of points)
    • Bit depth/quantification (e.g. 16 bits) and voltage step per increment (e.g. 0.0003125V)
    • Waveform repetition rate (can also calculate sampling rate based on number of points)
    • Maximum peak voltage output limits (e.g. +/- 10V)
    • CSV file structure and header format

Rigol UltraWave (free download from the Rigol website - software has no time limit and includes the required NI-VISA drivers) does all of the above except define the CSV file structure and header format; you would have to know the number of cycles, points used and sampling rate when generating a sine/square/pulse at a given frequency anywhere in the waveform file.

For anyone who is interested, I will provide handy calculators for determining frequency error based on sampling rate, required frequency, number of cycles, and how many points are used in an AWG, along with a sampling rate calculator based on the number of waveform points, repetition rate, and the maximum AWG DAC clock rate.

Please note that this is for generation of waveforms in the MHz range (beyond audio range).
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

FeelTech / Kuman FY6600 DDS Function Arbitrary Waveform Generator repair
    by CapLeaker
Some Got it as a X-Mas present from wifey. Lasted about 30mins and then it was absolutely dead.
Checked the PSU and it was loaded down to next to nothing. Unplugged the main board from the PSU and all is O.k. on the PSU. Ahh! Main board problem!
Took the main board out and find a short at T2 (78L05) regulator between the input and GND pin. Took that out including the cap that is next to it and still have a short. I also measured shorts between C53 and C57. Took these out, took the 2 IC's under that heat sink out and still a short! Running out of options...

Wind generator charger schematics (or load of baloney ?)
    by Dannyx
Good day folks. A former colleague of mine recommended me to a relative of his and I got to speak to this man today in person. He's a bit of a mad scientist/tinkerer sort-of guy - just my kind of weirdo Apparently this chap builds all sorts of generators and wind turbines in his little shop at home and sells them here and there. He even showed me some footage of some of his inventions in action out in the field. However, as he himself very kindly put it, he's not good with electronics - he just designs and builds the generators (from scratch, I might add) and turns to others for the electronic...

    Inverter Generator Repair
    by PM5K
I have an inverter generator that has two bad caps. One blew and the other was swollen.

My main issue is that the power supply
is encased in some type of epoxy.

My main concerns are regarding the epoxy and its purpose. I can imagine that it helps with vibration should I also be concerned with sparks since it's a gasoline generator?

The plan is to break off the old caps, cut the old legs off, clear out the solder points, then solder from the top since I cant get to the backside of the board.

This means that the legs of the caps...

Agilent 33220A 20 MHz Function Generator
    by jason123
I can't find a forum to discuss "instrumentation Troubleshooting", but PS maybe the closest.
So, I'm having an issue with about 13 year old Agilent Function Generator. it works, passes self-test, but it has an annoying "audible" noise, that changes as I change the output frequency setting of the instrument. Prominent around 600 Hz and up (at least that's what my ears are picking up.) I saw on some forms that it could be fan, linear regulator, dried up caps,... I can't seem to find the source of audible noise. Here is what I tried:
    1. Turn the output off - still...
