Sony LED 60" KDL with dark spot along bezel on 2 TVs

I have 2 Sony 60" LED TVs that are roughly 6 years old that amazingly both developed these spots within 2 weeks of one another. I'm thinking it's a backlight / edge light bulb out. After days of searching I can't find anything on a identical problem.


Both these TV's are kdl-60ex645 and the other TV has the exact same issue just like 10 inches to the right. From what I've read so far is that the backlight bulbs on this model are part of the display panel and cannot be repaired or replaced by themselves.
After 6 years of good use I can't be too upset since it's livable for now. If I can fix it I'm down for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should note that there is an image under the dark spot, and in some instances it's barely noticeable. Letterbox movies almost hide it completely.
I'm sure I'll be TV shopping soon though.

Looks like bad led. Should be repairable. Will have to remove panel

Do you know if all the LED's are part of the panel or are some around the edge? I did manage to find some used strips for sale, so thats hope.

Looks like edge lit, if so then it is attached to heatsinks with adhesive.

The fresnel lens may be burned. Apart the leds.
