Want to use this as a media centre.
This was power up over a year ago and appeared ok.
At that time, I updated the BIOS.
Got round to testing it again just recently.
The mobo is dead - will not POST. Rather, it posted only once
and has done nothing else other than power up, do a CPU
reset and then nothing. The mobo will do a reset as my
PCI diag. card indicates this is the case. Also, all of the
voltages on the Diag. card report ok.
Measured the ESR of the caps
BOM below;
3 of Violet 1500 uF 16.0 V Rubycon MBZ 105 deg C - H 20.0 mm x Dia 10 mm +12V rail I/P VRM

8 of Black 1500 uF 6.3 V Panasonic FJ 105 deg C - H 20.0 mm x Dia 7.5 mm +3.3V O/P VRM
10 of Black 1000 uF 6.3 V Panasonic FJZ 105 deg C - H 18.0 mm x Dia 7.5 mm +3.3V
4 of Green 470 uF 10.0 V UCC KZE 105 deg C - H 13.0 mm x Dia 7.5 mm +5.0V
2 of Brown 1000 uF 10.0 V UCC KZG 105 deg C - H 15.0 mm x Dia 8.0 mm +5.0V
4 of Brown 470 uF 6.3 V UCC KMG 105 deg C - H 10.0 mm x Dia 5.0 mm +3.3V
2 of Black 100 uF 6.3 V G-Luxon 105 deg C - H 10.0 mm x Dia 3.0 mm +3.3V
All appear ok but;
All of the FJ all read ESR of 0 but appear to charge up ok i.e. will go beep and
go o/c if I apply the leads of my MMeter on continuity.
However, one of the KMG and one of the G-Luxon which are close to
the n/bridge HSF have highish ESR of 0.65 and 0.32 respectively.
This may account for heat as the others, only reads between 0.02 - 0.08
and 0.01 respectively.
Further, one of the KMG and one of the FJZ will not charge, they remain
s/c. I believe these may require replacement as being the above are
bullk capacitance lytics for the rails, they must have a load to power.
Also, the FJZ cap reads 0 ESR, the KMG 0.03.
Q - I have tried to get a datasheet on the FJZ in a separate post.
In the first instance, I want to replace all of the FJZ on the board
as well as the KMGs and the G-Luxons
Would this be the correct action to follow?
