    939 Help! Hakko's Lockout Instructions don't work

Hey guys I want to know your opinion did I get these for a good price?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/270924979268 $35.00

    and

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/270921072369 $9.50

Total without shipping 44.50. Was that a good deal?

Of course its in order to be popped open and have the cord replaced, and the lockout card bypassed. I never did know why they put the lockout card's in the only thing I could think of was for some Chinese worker that you didn't want to change the settings.

I think you did fine, provided it all works. Get some various tips and a spare heating element, if they are still available. These were discontinued 8 years ago.

Do you think it was a deal or just average, providing it all works great?

You got an industrial grade, temperature controlled, and solid brand soldering station for <$60. You're just going to have to chase the parts for it a bit. You should be able to come up with enough of them to keep it going a long time.

Here they are. I'd rather not take the board near the transformer off as I always wreck those plastic clips but if you absolutely need it, I'll get the back for you.

                        I understand completely.
I hate those things. I normal replace them with nylon bolts, spacers, and nuts from hardware store.

Can you take an over all picture so I see how the wire cables connect the boards together.

Besides removing L6, did you do any touch up (reflowing) soldering on that board?

No I have not not touched up any of the boards. Picture is attached for the connections.

Also, just to make sure I am doing this right all I have to do after the lockout is disabled, is press the "R" button and then enter the number and press "S", right?

Yes the Preset temp is currently set to 650F and it heats up to that temp very quickly and seems to stay there.

Thanks guys hope this is a simple fix.

I'd make my own keycard and put that L6 back in. Does it even look like it's setting when you press R ?

                                Yes, right steps.

                                1) Does the heating element and the digital display immediately turn off after press "R"?

No they don't even respond, the switch for "R" is working.

If there isn't any solder bridges on the sensor board, then the problem is on the main board.

Yeah, that what I was thinking. I don't see any solder bridges where do I start on the mainboard?

Re: Hakko Soldering Iron Ebay Find!

I've looked and can't find a schematic, so we (BADCAPS Forum) need good focused pics of the boards tops and bottoms.

We need this to be able to trace the circuity.

If at all possible use sunlight to illuminate boards or indoor lights, no flash.

If the plastic standoffs get broke, we'll replace them with better ones.
