    Jetway 650DF 16 bulged/oozing GSC caps

Jetway 650DF is a P4 Socket 478 small footprint MoBo. It died because of 16 bulged caps, 4 of them oozing. Two large bulging caps by the ferrire cores are marked GSC 2200micF 16V. Medium caps by the CPU/VGA/DDR sockets are marked GSC 1500micF 6.3V.

I am shocked... okay not really . GSC are known to be crap. Replace them all.
Speaking of which, what series are they? ME? RE? (should be a 2 or 3 -letter code written on them)

Also, is this motherboard from a Shuttle PC? It has a very interesting form factor.

      Re: Jetway 650DF 16 bulged/oozing GSC caps

I recently got my hands on a Jetway board which was full of GSCs. They had failed, but the previous owner had pushed the tops down, although obviously, that doesn't fix them. It worked like a charm after replacing them with Panny FJs.

EDIT: Are you planning on repairing the board? If so, list the cap values if you want me or another member to help you source suitable replacements.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

All the GSC need to go.
There are around 10 possible series. All should be two letter codes.
If you can provide the series names I probably have the data sheets on file to find the specs for proper replacements.

Early on when they only had two series GSC didn't mark the series code.
They were either RE or LE. One was green, the other black.
I never remember which was which without looking in my old notes.

If you have Sacon or Evercon those are just GSC with a new company name.
GSC were so sh*tty they actually had to change their name twice.
